Pawn structure, piece configuration and tactical ideas are close enough to OTB games that they create the illusion of a duel between two grandmasters. On the other hand, the tactical blows are uncommon enough to be unexpected in a real game. I think the value of this study is in combining these two aspects.
Moreover, it is really surprising that White can save himself with Qh2 and Rf4, although he is two full knights down and only has a rook left. Something should work here for Black.
Too few pawns and a lot of heavy artillery in the position to be called game-like. This never happens in a game.

Since there is also an interesting study by Jan Timman here, I would like to take the opportunity to promote his new book: “100 Endgame Studies You Must Know”. It contains the most important classical studies and a good selection of modern studies. All studies are annotated in detail with multiple diagrams, so you don’t need a chessboard to understand everything. Each composer is introduced. There are a lot of good versions of old masterpieces by Timman, Didukh and others. I recommend this book to anyone interested in studies. It is now my study Bible!
