Сайту Chess Study Art (ранее блог Дидуха) исполнилось 10 лет. Здесь накопилось много интересной и местами даже полезной информации. «Надо бы собрать лучшее за эти годы», – подумал я, и написал эту книжечку.
Каждый год представлен десяткой памятных этюдов. Одному этюду выделена одна страница, где я уместил мнения судей, комментарии коллег, свое видение сюжета, иногда с помощью кадров из фильмов, картинок и фотографий. В некоторых случаях я рассказываю о выраженной идее, ее развитии, привожу похожие этюды, показываю или разгадываю процесс составления.

Три месяца назад я набросал несколько перспективных схем с таском Бабсона. Потом принял решение сначала написать «100 memorable studies», а Бабсона оставить на потом. Ну, куда он убежит, если за столько лет не убежал? Дату публикации книги почему-то наметил издалека на 31 января. 30-го числа зашел на Арвес, а там Бабсон сидит. Да еще красивый такой! Ай да, Гатти, ай да молодец! Заходи в книгу последней главой!

A very useful anthology. Thank you for the work! I was surprised about some choices, but tastes differ and this is normal.
I have a comment on No. 68 (Didukh, Chess Artistry). You decide to print the Pervakov version in the book. But my critical comment, which you reprint below, was directed against the introductory play in the original version, and I was fully appreciative of the later version. I also said this on the blog. The quote is therefore out of context and misleading. I do not understand why you included it.
Indeed, this study deserves a better comment. Polgar speaks instead of you.

You’ve missed the best comment to that study, coming from Oleg, when we showed it to him at the Vilnius Congress (I think). When looking at the final mating position, he just pointed to the four pawns on the 7th rank: “Hmm, but those guys…”.
Those guys made the story. They earned to be in the final position.

White’s pawns ran like Olympic sprinters with jetpacks.
Black tried to build a wall, but White just ignored it and ran through.
The final f4# checkmate was a poetic mic-drop moment.
